According to WRAP, the average amount of waste for a primary school per pupil per year is 45kg and secondary schools 22kg. So there is work to be done!
*This is a rough measurement, but we think reasonably accurate, based on conversations with cleaners, caretakers and weighing bags of rubbish, taking photos of bins and taking into account the number of 1100 litre bins on site.
Schools signed up to the Zero Waste challenge can now down load lesson plans and assembly plans by clicking here.
You will find resources for your pupils for KS2 and KS3, and these could be adapted for a higher or lower age group, or used with an eco-group.
National Curriculum links are provided at the end of each lesson plan.
